Intensive Interactions

Intensive Interaction is an approach that supports the development of communication, social engagement, and positive relationships. It is designed for children who may find communication challenging and helps them develop the early interaction skills that form the foundation of communication.

The approach focuses on building connections through shared attention, eye contact, turn-taking, listening, and responding to one another. Sessions are led by trained staff who follow the child’s interests and communication style, creating enjoyable and meaningful interactions at the child’s own pace.

At our school, Intensive Interaction is used to help children develop confidence in communicating with others, strengthen relationships, and increase their engagement in learning and social activities. By providing regular opportunities for positive interactions, children are supported to develop the skills they need to connect with the people around them and become more active participants in school life.

If you would like to discuss this approach you can contact Mrs Wears (our Speech, Language and Communication Lead) and she will be able to support you.
