OPAL is an award-winning, mentor supported programme that is supporting us to improve the quality of our play opportunities. OPAL is the only programme of its kind that has been independently proven to sustainably improve the quality of play in British primary schools.
Our school vision, at West View Primary School, is that everyone flourishes throughout their time with us, enjoying life in all its fullness and that applies to both academic learning and learning through play. We believe a positive play experience enhances a child’s emotional, mental and physical wellbeing.
At West View, we believe in enhancing our children’s curiosity through play and our vision has allowed children to access an abundance of play types using wheels, small world, sand pits, music and much more!

At West View Primary School, our dedicated and hardworking play leaders from Years 2–6 play a vital role in supporting play provision. They actively help their peers, encourage inclusive play, and contribute to enhancing the wide range of engaging play zones our school offers.
